Sadashiva (Rare) (IBS267)
Sadashiva, the eternal Shiva. This image is extremely rare. K. Sastri writes that none have been found in any of the temples examined so far, it is often mentioned in the Tanjore inscriptions as having been installed in the Rajarajeshvara temple by the Chola king Rajaraja or his subordinates in the first quarter of the 11th century.
He is depicted here with 5 heads, his consort and 10 arms. There is some wear from worship but no damage. A rare icon.
