Arati Lamp (IBH344)
Such Arati lamps are used in private household shrines for personal worship. It shows an elephant rider holding one compartment above his stand with another four compartments. The rider is depicted in typical Marathi style signified by the turban and the long coat he wears. We rarely have seen an Arati lamp with such fine and delicate workmanship. The piece has traces of gilding, which is quite uncommon to find in south Indian bronzes.
