Mahishasuramardini (IBS248)

Description

A very fine early 19th century image of the Goddess Durga in her most ferocious form, slaying the demon Mahisha as he reveals himself from a buffalo form he has taken. The casting is very good and there is no damage. In Durga's eight arms are the usual attributes. The spear is missing but this is not always cast with the icon and often a substitute is required such as a stick or a thin piece of metal.

This is solid cast so is quite heavy for its size.
