Description
This wood carving shows the snake Goddess Manasa, It may have been part of a door panel from a shrine or from a small local temple.
The veneration of Manasa is widespread in Bengal, Orissa and other eastern parts of India. From anywhere else this depictions of this local Goddess is rare.
A truly rare piece of iconography.
