Description

A very fine mid 18th century Vishnu stand with Garuda. It is rare to find items of this quality and in the GangaJumna style.

Here we see Garuda kneeling before his Lord in total devotion. Garuda is shown larger than the Vishnu to show that he has the strength to carry his Lord. His hands are held out as if to present Vishnu to us.

Sadly the Vishnu is no longer and we can only imagine what this complete set would have looked like. The whole piece has been cleaned/polished. This was done before we acquired it.

The slot for a Vishnu measures approx 44mm wide by 33mm deep.

Other than a very minor dent to the front of the base it is in near perfect condition with a little wear to Garuda's face.
