Bhairava (IBS182)
Description
An excellent, and very old, representation of Shiva. In this form he known as Bhairava. In the upper hands he holds the drum and the flame and in his lower hands the sword and the skull cap bowl. He is decorated with a garland of two serpents connected at the mouth. Beside him is his Vahana, the dog.
Although much loved the detail that remains is very impressive. The face is completely worn smooth. As can be seen from the reverse side picture Shiva has a tri-banded hair lock.
