Standing Balakrishna (IBS259)
Description
A very fine 15th century standing Balakrishna. In this image we see the infant Krishna holding two butter balls. Most common images of Krishna as the butter thief are shown with him either crawling or dancing. In this more rare example Krishna stands, his weight placed evenly on both feet and he seems to be presenting his booty very proudly to the spectator. A very charming representation of the ´sweet Lord`.
We are pleased to share with you this very special image of him standing.
As can be seen from the photo the patination of this piece is wonderful. There is almost no damage and as such hold a very special place in our heart.
